YOGA BODYWORK
Thai
Yoga Bodywork is a one-on-one technique that delivers the
flexibility, inner organ massage, oxygenation of the blood and quieting of
the mind that is attained with yoga. Through deep muscle stretching, joint
release and emphasis on breath, Thai Yoga Bodywork offers many of the same
benefits as yoga. It’s amazing how much more we are able to move when
another person is providing assistance and encouraging us to relax more effectively.
It is an interactive form of body work, quite unlike any other Western or Eastern
forms. While it does include the usual muscle kneading (in it’s own form),
what makes it particularly relevant is its unique stretching. The client remains
passive while the practitioner facilitates all of the movements.
Thai Yoga Bodywork is an ancient ayurvedic healing art. Through
application of pressure on energy lines and points, and a vast
array of passive stretching movement performed with the hands,
feet, knees and elbows, the body experiences profound relaxation,
peripheral stimulation of internal organs, increased flexibility
and flow of energy.
Thai
Yoga Bodywork is a meditative practice for both client and
practitioner, reflecting the states of loving kindness and
compassion. It has always been taught as a spiritual practice
done with prayers and as a meditation. A typical Thai Bodywork
session is 1 ½ to 2 hours in length covering the entire
body. Thai Yoga Bodywork is performed fully clothed on a futon
on the floor without the use of any oils or creams. It is a unique
and deep massage that leaves the client in a more flexible and
relaxed state of being. The artistic expression of Thai Yoga
comes fully alive when the fundamental principles are practiced
with mindfulness and have been integrated into the practitioner’s
body-mind-spirit. When two bodies move together in a graceful,
seamlessly flowing, meditative dance, the true essence of this
healing art form begins.
